At the same time, they allow the required cooling air to pass through to the radiator. A radiator consists externally of delicate cooling fins that easily bend especially by surface dirt, stones and even surface water. If they get too out of shape the passing airflow is blocked, which can result in the R 1250 GS Adventure TE running hot. The radiator’s internal coolant core is also fragile and prone to being holed by stones, which are usually fired directly into the radiator from the bike’s front tyre or other traffic.
